Bad Moms Summer Dance Classes

Tired? No social life? Need exercise? Can’t commit weekly? Then head to Great South Bay Dance for a summer of dance and yoga for bad moms! Classes begin in July and include Yoga, Hip Hop, and Ballet.

$25 per class.

Adults’ Summer Yoga at Amityville Beach

Adults ages 18 and older are invited to enjoy an all-levels yoga class at Amityville Village Beach. In addition to providing many physical benefits, including boosting the immune system, improving flexibility and posture, and increasing blood circulation, yoga calms the soul. Yoga encourages you to relax, slow your breath, and focus on the present. What more peaceful environment to do so than on the beautiful Great South Bay.

COVID-19 Protocol
Participants will be required to wear face masks before and after class while checking-in with Great South Bay Dance staff and using communal spaces in close proximity, such as the restroom. Face masks can be removed when situated on your yoga mat during class, and yoga mats must be spaced 6 feet apart from other participants’ mats. Participants who have experienced symptoms of COVID-19 in the past 14 days, have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days, and/or been exposed to another person who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days are not permitted to participate in class.

Dress for Yoga Success
Participants should bring a towel and yoga mat to class. A yoga mat alone on the sand acts like a surfboard causing lots of movement. Using a towel underneath the yoga mat will help prevent your mat from slipping.

Wear layers and don’t forget the sunblock. Early morning classes may start off chilly, but by the end you might be running toward the bay to cool off. Start with a sweatshirt, bring a hat, and start shedding those layers as you warm up. Make sure you’ve slathered on sunblock, even if it’s cloudy.

Be prepared to use muscles you forgot you had. The sand, with its instability and constant movement, shifts, just like life below our feet. Be prepared to move with it. Get comfortable with falling (it won’t hurt your body,  maybe just your ego), and don’t be surprised if you’re sore the next day.

Inclement Weather Cancellation:
On days of inclement weather, yoga classes will be cancelled. Emails will be sent to all participants who provide email addresses, a message will be posted on Great South Bay Dance’s Facebook page, and a voicemail recording will be left on the studio phone at (631) 598-7100.
